From today (April 11) they will be accepting their resident's Emirates ID as proof of residency, replacing the residency visa stickers stamped on their passports.
For new residency applications or renewals, residents no longer need to have two separate Visa and Emirates ID procedures. Emirates ID- recently Visa Sticker contains relevant information related to all available residences. The new generation Emirates ID includes personal and professional data, the issuing agency and other data that can be read through the e-link system.
Applicants are not required to submit their passport to the Immigration Office for visa stamping.
It was only after extensive studies that it was decided to cut the number of steps required to issue residency documents.
